FAQ

How do I make a banner in Minecraft?

Craft a banner from 6 wool + 1 stick, then apply patterns at a loom using dyes (and banner-pattern items for special charges). This designer lets you stack a base color and up to 6 pattern layers, preview the result, and copy a /give command that creates the finished banner instantly.

How many patterns can a banner have?

Up to 6 pattern layers on top of the base color. Each layer is a pattern plus a dye color, applied in order from bottom to top.

How do I use the /give command?

Copy it and paste into chat with operator permissions (or into a command block without the leading slash). It gives the exact banner shown in the preview. The command uses the 1.20.5+ data-component format.

Can I get the banner on a loom instead?

Yes — recreate the layers in order at a loom using the matching dyes. The designer lists each layer bottom-to-top, which is the same order you apply them on the loom.

Why aren’t creeper, skull or Mojang patterns here?

Those are special “charge” patterns that require dedicated banner-pattern items, not plain loom crafting, and can’t be previewed faithfully without their textures. This tool focuses on the loom-craftable patterns so the preview always matches the result.

Can I use the banner as a flag or on a shield?

Yes. The same banner item can be placed as a wall/standing banner, and you can combine a banner with a shield in a smithing-style craft to copy the design onto the shield.
